What customers say?

“ Wonderful food, generous portions. Needs some Persian music softly playing in the background to round out the atmosphere. Wonderful and friendly chef managing it all on his own. ”

“ First impressions were quite good! This little gem has some amazing dishes, each packing a huge dose of flavors! The portions were generous when dining in & the price was fair! The ghormeh sabzi & fesenjan were delicious! The sabzi was herbaceous & very savory. I could eat it often! The fesenjan was full of walnut flavor & sweetness from the pomegranate. The hummus was good, but the mixed pickles were outstanding! It's a small location, so don't expect too fancy. Might be a short wait involved , as when we were there the owner was doing all the jobs alone, but definitely worth it! We will be back & I would advise to try here soon! The owner was polite & the food was stellar! ”

“ I really liked the food. Just off 2-70 and near DePaul Hospital. Relaxed setting for traditional Persian cuisine. ”

- Umar Lee -

“ Casual table-service restaurant with authentic Persian dishes. The beet salad is good (and normally I'm not a fan), as is the crispy rice. Now I don't have to drive all the way across St. Louis! ”

“ Grabbed lunch at one of my favorite places today Esther's Persian Cafe, with a friend. Started with the hummus (the best ever), I chose the Ghormeh Sabzi and my friend went for the Gheymeh eggplant. While waiting for our food we were treated to a new item they are considering putting on the menu, yellow carrot juice. We both gave it a thumbs up and received some great antioxidants for the endeavor. We said that if it doesn't make the menu, we want the option to order it in the future. Ended the meal with baklava for myself and my friend went with Turkish coffee. It was a great afternoon to catch up, relax, and enjoy some downtime in a very busy season. ”

“ Superb! Highly recommended! We ordered the hummus as an appetizer and then I got the gheymey egg plant and my husband got the fesenjan (both came with basmati rice) and all of it was fantastic. The customer service was great, the food arrived warm and quickly, and we will definitely be back. I definitely recommend you give it a try. ”

“ First time at Esther’s though I’ve been meaning to try it for years. We started with the hummus and Turkish coffee. The hummus was one of the best we’ve had and we loved the extra oil drizzle. They provided a lot pita and it would be great to get a bigger serving of the hummus but we enjoyed the rest of the pita and olive oil. The pita was cooked perfectly- a little crispy and soft inside. The Turkish coffee was on the sweet side but robust. We asked about the cucumber yogurt dip. It features mint and one of our friends didn’t eat mint and the owner who waited on us and cooked the food to order offered to make it without mint. It was very refreshing and also served with pita bread. For our entrees we ordered the lamb shank, chicken kabobs, beef koobideh and chicken kabob combo and eggplant beef stew. We all really enjoyed our dishes and they were nice size portions for the money. The chicken was juicy with lots of sumac spices and the stew was very flavorful. The koobideh was a bit dry but had lots of flavor. The lamb was fall off the bone tender. All entrees were served with the fluffiest basmati rice and a grilled tomato. There wasn’t a side vegetable that would have been nice to add. This place was very quaint but no frills. We will be back. ”

“ Pat was an absolutely wonderful host/chef! We had a pretty large order (5 different items) and she cooked/made each to perfection! Looking forward to coming back again soon! ”
